About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Research Scientist specializing in Process Development to join their innovative R&D team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel pharmaceutical compounds. You will play a key role in translating laboratory-scale discoveries into robust, reproducible, and cost-effective manufacturing processes suitable for clinical trials and commercial production. This position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge therapies and contribute significantly to bringing life-changing medicines to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for small molecules and biologics.
- Scale up processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and ensure seamless technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during process development and scale-up.
- Characterize raw materials, intermediates, and final drug products using various analytical techniques.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, development protocols, and regulatory submission documentation.
- Collaborate closely with formulation scientists, analytical chemists, and manufacturing teams to achieve project goals.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development and scale-up.
- Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
- Proficiency with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
