Formulation Scientist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative and experienced Formulation Scientist to join their Pharmaceutical Development department in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of solid oral dosage forms for new and existing pharmaceutical products. You will be instrumental in translating drug substance properties into stable, effective, and patient-friendly formulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of physical pharmacy, materials science, and drug delivery systems, contributing to the advancement of our client's pipeline and commitment to patient well-being through cutting-edge pharmaceutical development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel oral solid dosage formulations (tablets, capsules) for diverse active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including API characterization, solubility enhancement, and excipient compatibility testing.
• Optimize formulation parameters and manufacturing processes to achieve desired drug release profiles, stability, and bioavailability.
• Utilize DoE (Design of Experiments) principles for efficient formulation development and process optimization.
• Collaborate with analytical, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to ensure successful scale-up and technology transfer of formulations within the pharmaceutical company .

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, specifically with solid oral dosage forms.
• Hands-on experience with formulation techniques such as wet granulation, dry granulation, direct compression, and coating.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment for formulation and characterization (e.g., mixers, tablet presses, dissolution testers).
• Familiarity with GMP guidelines and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical product development.
