About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to join their dynamic R&D division in Leicester . This pivotal role involves leading cutting-edge research initiatives aimed at discovering and developing novel therapeutics. You will be instrumental in driving projects from early-stage discovery through to pre-clinical development, contributing significantly to the company's pipeline and innovation goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, a proven track record in pharmaceutical research, and a passion for advancing medicinal chemistry and drug discovery within a collaborative and goal-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute complex research projects focused on identifying and synthesizing potential drug candidates.
- Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate compound efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetic profiles.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, generating comprehensive reports and presentations for scientific and management review.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including biology, DMPK, and toxicology departments, to ensure seamless project progression.
- Mentor junior scientists, foster a culture of scientific rigor, and stay abreast of the latest advancements in pharmaceutical research and relevant therapeutic areas.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery .
- Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and compound library design.
- Proficiency in interpreting various analytical data (NMR, MS, HPLC) and biological assay results.
- Strong understanding of drug development processes and regulatory requirements within the pharmaceutical industry .
