Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist - Formulation Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist to join their dynamic formulation development team in Leicester . This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and optimization of innovative drug formulations for a range of therapeutic areas. You will be instrumental in advancing drug candidates from pre-clinical stages through to clinical trials, ensuring the efficacy, safety, and manufacturability of new pharmaceutical products. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of novel drug products, including solid dosage forms, injectables, and topical preparations.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including physicochemical characterization, solubility enhancement, and stability testing.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring scalability and compliance with GMP standards.
• Design and execute stability studies to evaluate product shelf-life and performance under various conditions.
• Collaborate closely with analytical development, DMPK, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure seamless project progression.
• Author and review technical reports, protocols, and regulatory submission documents.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven track record in developing and characterizing various dosage forms.
• In-depth knowledge of GMP regulations and guidelines relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing and development.
• Experience with various analytical techniques for drug characterization and release testing.
• Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior scientists.
