About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist to join their dynamic research and development team based in Leicester . This pivotal role involves leading critical projects focused on the discovery, development, and optimization of novel pharmaceutical compounds and drug delivery systems. You will play a key part in advancing our client's pipeline, contributing to the creation of next-generation therapeutics that address unmet medical needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, a passion for drug development, and the ability to mentor junior scientists within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of experiments for drug formulation and characterization.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for assessing drug stability and quality.
- Conduct pre-clinical studies, including formulation optimization and pharmacokinetic assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless project progression.
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external scientific communities.
- Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on drug development.
- Proven track record in formulation development and characterization of small molecules or biologics.
- Expertise in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
- Strong understanding of drug delivery principles, pharmacokinetics , and regulatory requirements (e.g., ICH guidelines).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex scientific data.
