About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their dedicated R&D team in Stoke-on-Trent . You will be at the forefront of designing and developing advanced power electronic systems for a range of cutting-edge applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in power conversion topologies, component selection, and control strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for innovation, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to bring complex designs from concept to reality. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize power electronic converters (e.g., AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC).
- Select appropriate power semiconductor devices, passive components, and control ICs.
- Perform detailed circuit analysis, simulations, and thermal management design.
- Develop and implement control algorithms for power electronic systems.
- Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to ensure optimal component placement and routing for high-frequency designs.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in power electronics design.
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor devices (e.g., MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC, GaN).
- Proficiency in simulation tools like SPICE, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with control system design and implementation for power converters.
- Strong understanding of EMI/EMC principles and mitigation techniques.
