Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team in Southampton . This critical role involves the design, analysis, and implementation of robust power systems for a variety of demanding applications. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of power distribution and control systems, working closely with project teams to deliver state-of-the-art solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of power electronics, grid integration, and related technologies, contributing to the company's leadership in energy infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer power systems, including distribution networks, substations, and renewable energy integration solutions.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies to ensure system performance and reliability.
• Develop technical specifications for power system equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of power system components and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to define system requirements and ensure project success.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards and codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in power system design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, AC/DC systems, and renewable energy technologies.
• Proficiency with industry-standard power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Experience with grid codes, interconnection standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
