Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their innovative team based remotely, with potential occasional travel to Manchester, Greater Manchester . This role is central to the design, analysis, and implementation of advanced power systems solutions, focusing on grid stability, renewable energy integration, and smart grid technologies. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical networks, contributing to cutting-edge projects that shape the future of energy infrastructure. This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the UK while collaborating with a leading firm in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses for complex electrical networks.
• Design and specify equipment for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Develop and implement control strategies for renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and grid modernization.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical due diligence for new energy projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and grid operators, to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in power systems engineering.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in power systems analysis and design.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PowerFactory DIgSILENT.
• Strong understanding of grid codes, protection schemes, and power quality issues.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar, wind) and energy storage systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of working autonomously.
