Senior Process Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the UK. You will play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex chemical processes for a variety of innovative projects. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, advanced simulation tools, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, all while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Conduct process simulations using industry-standard software to predict performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations for mass and energy balances, reaction kinetics, and equipment sizing.
• Lead hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and other risk assessment activities virtually.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the remote team.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process design and development within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics, and heat and mass transfer.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience with project management methodologies is a plus.
