Senior Process Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic, globally distributed team. This pivotal role will focus on the design, optimization, and scale-up of complex chemical processes, primarily working remotely. You will leverage your deep understanding of chemical engineering principles to drive innovation and efficiency in process development. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conceptualizing new process routes, troubleshooting existing operations, and ensuring robust, safe, and environmentally sound chemical manufacturing solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of new chemical processes, from laboratory scale to full industrial implementation.
• Conduct rigorous process simulations, feasibility studies, and techno-economic analyses to evaluate potential solutions.
• Optimize existing chemical processes for improved yield, energy efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Develop and validate process control strategies and P&ID's (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for new and modified equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support cross-functional teams in project execution.
• Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions to ensure operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process design, development, and scale-up within the chemical industry.
• Proven expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, mass transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Demonstrated experience in HAZOP studies and process safety management.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a virtual environment.
