Senior Process Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Chemist to join their dynamic manufacturing and development team in Plymouth . This role is crucial for optimizing chemical synthesis routes, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and safety in our production processes. You will play a key part in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, developing robust analytical methods, and contributing to the scale-up of new chemical products. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scales.
• Investigate and resolve process-related issues to ensure consistent product quality and yield.
• Design and execute experiments to improve process efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for monitoring reaction progress and product purity.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams during process transfers and scale-up activities.
• Ensure all process development activities comply with EHS standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Proven track record in optimizing synthetic routes and scale-up of chemical processes.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemical engineering principles.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and NMR.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
