About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Chemist to join their dynamic R&D team in Brighton . This critical role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling up chemical processes for the efficient and safe production of target compounds. You will work within modern laboratory facilities, collaborating with synthetic chemists, analytical chemists, and engineers to ensure seamless technology transfer from lab to pilot scale and beyond. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and a passion for translating bench-scale chemistry into robust, viable manufacturing processes, contributing to our client's success in Brighton .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes for large-scale production, focusing on yield, purity, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues encountered during scale-up and manufacturing.
- Design and execute experiments to improve reaction kinetics, selectivity, and work-up procedures.
- Collaborate with analytical teams to develop and validate in-process controls and release testing methods.
- Support technology transfer activities to manufacturing sites and provide technical guidance to production personnel.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry or chemical process development.
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms, thermodynamics, and kinetics.
- Experience with process scale-up, including reactor design and operation, filtration, and drying techniques.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy for process monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment in Brighton .
