About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Process Chemist to join their manufacturing and process development team in Liverpool . This role is critical for optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. You will apply your expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and process engineering to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of chemical principles and practical experience in a GMP manufacturing environment, ensuring the reliable production of high-quality pharmaceutical compounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up synthetic routes for APIs and key intermediates from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scale.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues encountered during process development and manufacturing campaigns.
- Implement Process Analytical Technology (PAT) where appropriate to enhance process understanding and control.
- Ensure all process development and manufacturing activities are conducted in compliance with GMP and safety regulations.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with analytical chemists, engineers, and production staff to ensure smooth technology transfer and process implementation.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in process chemistry, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
- Proven experience in scaling up chemical processes, including knowledge of reactor design and unit operations.
- Familiarity with GMP manufacturing principles and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Liverpool .
