About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Chemist to join their dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent . This crucial role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling up chemical processes for the efficient and safe manufacturing of specialty chemicals. You will be responsible for ensuring that processes are robust, cost-effective, and meet stringent quality and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize synthetic routes for new chemical products.
- Scale up chemical processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during process development and manufacturing.
- Conduct process safety assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
- Develop analytical methods for monitoring reaction progress and product purity.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to ensure smooth technology transfer and implementation.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry or process development within the chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
- Experience with process scale-up, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of process safety principles and hazard analysis.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and NMR.
