Senior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to lead the design and development of chemical processing systems at their facility in Stoke-on-Trent . This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the implementation of new chemical plants and modifications to existing ones, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and environmental specifications. You will play a key part in driving innovation and efficiency in chemical manufacturing, working on complex projects that require a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles and project management. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process designs from conceptual stage through to detailed engineering.
• Create and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass and energy balances, and P&IDs.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs and ensure operability.
• Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments for new process designs and modifications.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, equipment suppliers, and construction teams.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in process design and engineering within the chemical industry.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of process safety standards, environmental regulations, and equipment design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and manage complex engineering projects.
