About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to join their world-class, fully remote team. This position is critical for leading the conceptual and detailed design of complex chemical processing facilities and systems. You will be responsible for translating client requirements into robust, efficient, and safe engineering solutions, ensuring adherence to the highest industry standards. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on significant design responsibility, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to high-profile projects from a remote location, driving technological advancements in the chemical engineering sector without the need for physical office presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of process designs, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
- Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies and LOPA.
- Perform detailed hydraulic calculations, heat transfer analysis, and mass balance calculations.
- Select and specify major process equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Oversee and review the work of junior engineers and designers to ensure design integrity and quality.
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met, fully embracing remote collaboration tools and methodologies.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in process design.
- Extensive experience in conceptual and detailed design for chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
- Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, UniSim) and advanced P&ID development.
- Proven track record in leading HAZOP studies and other risk assessments.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills, tailored for a remote working environment.
- Chartered Engineer status is highly preferred.
