Senior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to join their expanding operations in Wolverhampton . This role is central to the conceptualization and detailed design of new chemical plants and process modifications. You will be responsible for developing process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and ensuring that designs meet stringent safety, environmental, and operational performance standards. This is a key position for an engineer who enjoys tackling complex design challenges and contributing to the development of state-of-the-art chemical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process designs from conceptualization through to detailed engineering, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs for efficiency, safety, and operability.
• Specify process equipment, including reactors, columns, pumps, and heat exchangers, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and HAZOP studies during the design phase.
• Collaborate with project managers, discipline engineers, and clients to ensure designs are technically sound and meet project objectives.
• Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process design engineering, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools for P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of unit operations , thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience in conducting HAZOP studies and applying process safety principles.
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
