Senior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton , operating on a hybrid basis. This role is responsible for leading the conceptual and detailed design of complex chemical process systems for a variety of industrial applications. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and engineering teams to ensure designs are innovative, cost-effective, and meet all technical and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in design engineering and a strong understanding of process simulation and optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process design phase for new projects, from concept development to detailed engineering.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), heat and material balances, and P&IDs.
• Specify process equipment and ensure adherence to design codes and standards.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize system performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior design engineers.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls) to ensure integrated design solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in process design engineering, with a significant portion in a senior capacity.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Strong knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead design teams and manage project deliverables.
