Senior Process Development Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations across the UK. This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes, with a particular emphasis on bringing new products and technologies from conceptualization through to successful industrial implementation. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex technical challenges and drive efficiency improvements, working collaboratively with global teams in a flexible, home-based setting. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and scale-up of new chemical processes, ensuring technical feasibility and economic viability.
• Perform detailed process design, including mass and energy balances, P&ID development, and equipment specification.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials to validate process designs and operating parameters.
• Optimize existing processes for improved yield, reduced costs, and enhanced sustainability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
• Collaborate effectively with R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams across different time zones.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process development, scale-up, and optimization within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and process design tools .
• Proven track record of successfully taking chemical processes from lab to commercial scale.
• Strong understanding of reaction engineering, separation technologies, and process control.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, particularly in a remote setting.
