Senior Process Development Engineer - Speciality Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Process Development Engineer to drive innovation in speciality chemicals at their Sunderland facility. This role is crucial for scaling up new chemical products from laboratory to commercial production, ensuring robust, efficient, and safe manufacturing processes. You will work at the forefront of chemical innovation, collaborating with R&D and production teams to bring novel solutions to market in the competitive chemical engineering landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of chemical processes for new speciality chemical products, from lab-scale to pilot and commercial scale.
• Design and execute experiments to validate process parameters, improve yields, and reduce waste.
• Develop detailed process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, operational procedures, and safety assessments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex process issues encountered during scale-up and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with the R&D team on new product introduction and with manufacturing teams for seamless technology transfer.
• Ensure all process development activities adhere to stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in process development, scale-up, or production support within the speciality chemicals sector.
• Hands-on experience with pilot plant operations and laboratory process development.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and statistical analysis techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
