Senior Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to join their research and development team in Sheffield . This role is focused on designing, optimizing, and scaling new manufacturing processes from concept through to production. You will be instrumental in ensuring that new products can be manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of process validation, scale-up challenges, and continuous improvement methodologies. This is an on-site position critical to the company's innovation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize new manufacturing processes for product scale-up and commercialization.
• Conduct process development studies, including design of experiments (DOE), to identify critical process parameters and optimize performance.
• Create detailed process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during development, scale-up, and initial production runs.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
• Implement validation strategies and ensure processes meet regulatory and quality requirements.
• Stay current with emerging process technologies and manufacturing techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a relevant industry.
• Proven experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis tools.
• Familiarity with process simulation and modeling software is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
