About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to join their advanced technology team in Reading . This role is crucial for leading the development and optimization of complex chemical processes that underpin our client's innovative product lines. You will take ownership of projects from conceptualization through to pilot scale, ensuring robust, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, excellent leadership qualities, and a proven ability to drive technical advancements in a collaborative, hybrid work setting, balancing on-site innovation with remote analysis and planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and scale-up of novel chemical processes, focusing on efficiency and sustainability.
- Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs ), risk assessments, and develop safety protocols.
- Utilize process simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Aspen Plus ) to optimize process parameters and predict performance.
- Manage pilot plant operations, troubleshoot issues, and interpret complex experimental data.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of process development methodologies.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in chemical process development, scale-up, and technology transfer.
- Proven expertise in reaction engineering, separation processes, and process control.
- Demonstrated experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis techniques.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
