About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Development Engineer to enhance their chemical manufacturing operations in Manchester . This role is central to driving innovation in process design and scale-up, ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality chemical products. You will work closely with research and development teams to translate laboratory discoveries into robust, commercially viable processes. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the company's technical strategy, focusing on optimizing yields, reducing operational costs, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and validation of new chemical processes from pilot scale to full commercial production.
- Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and resource utilization.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed process design packages, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful process implementation and troubleshooting.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in chemical engineering and process development.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in process development and scale-up.
- Proficiency with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
- Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment techniques.
- Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
