About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Process Development Scientist to join their innovative manufacturing team based in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up chemical processes to meet manufacturing demands for novel therapeutic agents. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and documenting process development studies, ensuring robust, safe, and efficient manufacturing procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist with a strong background in chemical engineering or process chemistry to make a significant impact on drug substance production and contribute to the company's growth, working within a state-of-the-art facility in Portsmouth .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize chemical processes for the large-scale synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
- Conduct process hazard assessments and develop safety protocols for new manufacturing procedures.
- Investigate and troubleshoot process-related issues, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Develop and validate analytical methods to monitor process performance and product quality.
- Prepare comprehensive process development reports, technology transfer documents, and regulatory filings.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process development and scale-up within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass transfer principles.
- Experience with process analytical technology (PAT) and Quality by Design (QbD) principles.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional technical teams in Portsmouth .
