About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to lead process optimization and scale-up activities for novel biopharmaceutical products in Bristol . This role is critical for translating laboratory-scale discoveries into robust, scalable manufacturing processes that meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. You will work with cutting-edge bioprocessing technologies and collaborate closely with manufacturing and quality assurance teams. Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to optimize upstream and downstream bioprocessing steps, including cell culture, fermentation, purification, and formulation.
- Develop scalable and robust manufacturing processes that meet defined quality attributes and regulatory requirements.
- Lead technology transfer activities from R&D to pilot plant and manufacturing sites, providing technical support.
- Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs).
- Characterize process parameters and product attributes, ensuring process understanding and control.
- Author technical reports, process descriptions, and contribute to regulatory filings.
Requirements
- PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process development for biopharmaceuticals (e.g., mAbs, recombinant proteins, vaccines).
- In-depth knowledge of microbial fermentation or mammalian cell culture processes.
- Strong experience with downstream purification techniques (e.g., chromatography, filtration).
- Familiarity with process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC).
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and leadership in Bristol .
