Senior Process Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to join their esteemed team in Belfast . This role is pivotal in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting the processes involved in oil and gas production and refining. You will leverage your technical expertise to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance across a range of projects. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and implement process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize operational parameters and equipment design.
• Conduct hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and other safety reviews for process modifications.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to improve process efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure all process designs comply with industry standards, codes, and company specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering within the oil and gas sector .
• Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, or similar.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles.
• Experience with safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA) and P&ID development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
