Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their established operations team in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all operational processes within their manufacturing facilities. You will lead the implementation and management of process safety management systems, conduct rigorous risk assessments, and drive a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in preventing incidents and protecting personnel, assets, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies for new and existing processes.
• Develop and maintain Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and ensure the integrity of safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety principles to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to employees at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
• Proven experience in conducting various types of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, inherently safer design principles, and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
