Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed team, working remotely from Reading . You will lead comprehensive safety assessments, develop and implement advanced safety management systems, and provide expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, HAZID, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) for complex chemical processes.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH).
• Conduct thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Perform safety reviews for Management of Change (MOC) proposals, ensuring all safety implications are adequately addressed.
• Develop and deliver specialized process safety training to technical and operational staff.
• Provide expert technical advice on intrinsic safety design, hazardous area classification, and explosion protection.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong emphasis on safety engineering.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience focused specifically on process safety engineering within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical sectors.
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of major risk assessment methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, Quantitative Risk Assessment).
• Proven experience in managing and enhancing Process Safety Management systems .
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
