Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team, operating under a hybrid model from Reading . This critical role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations. You will lead hazard identification, risk assessment, and the development of safety management systems to prevent incidents and protect personnel and the environment. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in process safety regulations and best practices, combined with strong leadership and communication skills. You will play a vital role in upholding the company's commitment to safety and operational integrity, working from our Reading hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
• Provide expert guidance on process safety aspects for new projects and modifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or a related safety-focused discipline.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in process safety engineering, preferably in the chemical or related industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard assessment techniques, and risk management.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61511).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation abilities, suitable for a hybrid work model .
