Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Process Safety Engineer to strengthen their safety initiatives within the Oil & Gas industry, based in Coventry . This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operational phases, from design to decommissioning. You will play a key role in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and driving a proactive safety culture. Working within a dedicated health, safety, and environmental team, you will contribute to maintaining operational integrity and protecting personnel and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and risk assessments.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management systems and procedures.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to project and operational teams.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to operational staff.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas or petrochemical sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of safety methodologies like HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessment, and QRA.
• Familiarity with key industry standards (e.g., HSE Ls-107, API RP 75).
• Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
