Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to bolster their team, operating in a fully remote capacity. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all company operations and projects, from conceptual design through to decommissioning. This role is critical in mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in process safety management (PSM) and a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk reduction. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on safety culture and operational integrity from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive process safety management systems.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOP studies, and LOPA.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Review and approve process design documents, management of change (MOC) proposals, and safety procedures.
• Provide expert guidance and training on process safety principles to engineering and operational teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience focused on process safety engineering in the chemical or process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of industry-standard PHA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant safety legislation, such as COMAH regulations in the UK.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex safety issues clearly.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
