Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated safety team in Sunderland . This vital role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, mitigating risks associated with handling hazardous materials and processes in the Oil & Gas industry. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices for process safety .
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice on safety considerations for new projects, modifications, and operational changes.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to operational and engineering personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, specifically within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA , and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, OSHA PSM).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
