About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their HSEQ team in Reading . This vital role ensures the highest standards of process safety across their operations in the Oil & Gas sector , focusing on preventing major accidents and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements. You will lead hazard identification studies, risk assessments, and develop robust safety management systems. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, operations, and management teams to embed a strong safety culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional to contribute to operational integrity and risk mitigation in a challenging industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and HAZID studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
- Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses for process safety events.
- Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and consequence modeling.
- Review engineering designs and modifications for process safety compliance.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries .
- In-depth knowledge of process safety management principles, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso III), and methodologies.
- Experience in conducting PHAs and developing safety cases or reports.
- Strong understanding of safety-critical equipment, relief systems, and emergency shutdown systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
