About the Role
Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their globally distributed team, working remotely from the Reading area. This critical role will ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical engineering projects and operations. You will be responsible for leading process hazard analyses, developing safety procedures, and driving a strong safety culture throughout the organization, all within a fully remote framework. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in process safety regulations and methodologies, coupled with excellent remote communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
- Conduct safety reviews for new process designs, modifications, and operational changes.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, standards (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM), and industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to engineering and operational staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience focused specifically on process safety engineering in the chemical or process industries.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Experience with process safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills, suitable for a remote environment.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams on safety matters.
