Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their robust operations team based in Belfast . This vital role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operational facilities within the Oil & Gas sector. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems, conducting rigorous hazard analyses, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Your expertise will be key to preventing incidents, protecting personnel and the environment, and ensuring regulatory compliance, making a significant impact on operational integrity and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures in line with industry standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
• Conduct and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Oversee the implementation of recommendations arising from PHAs and incident investigations.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational and engineering staff.
• Perform safety critical equipment (SCE) reviews and mechanical integrity program oversight.
• Stay abreast of evolving process safety regulations and best practices, ensuring organizational compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting PHAs and developing PSM systems.
• Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
