Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols within their operations based in Sunderland . This role is vital for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all facilities, focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust control measures. You will work closely with operations, engineering, and management teams to foster a strong safety culture and proactively mitigate potential risks associated with energy production processes. This position requires a commitment to excellence in safety engineering and a desire to contribute to a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all modifications to process equipment and procedures.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the energy sector.
• Thorough understanding of inherent safety concepts, risk management, and safety management systems.
• Experience with safety-critical equipment design and safeguarding systems.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex safety information effectively.
