Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead safety initiatives for their chemical operations in Edinburgh . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust safety management systems, conducting thorough risk assessments, and driving a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Provide expert advice on process safety design and operational aspects to project teams and plant personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR ) and industry best practices.
• Proven experience leading PHA studies and conducting incident investigations.
• Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and relief system design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
