Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety performance across their operations in Edinburgh . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing process safety management systems to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. You will conduct rigorous risk assessments, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies.
• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide training and technical support to site personnel on process safety matters.
• Review engineering designs and modifications for safety implications.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience focused on process safety in the chemical or process industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP , LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with major regulatory frameworks (e.g., COMAH).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.
