Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety management systems for their operations, potentially serving the Portsmouth area. This role is vital in ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all projects and facilities within the Oil & Gas industry . You will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks, contributing to a safe working environment and operational integrity. This position offers the chance to work on critical safety initiatives and influence safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and HAZID studies.
• Develop and implement Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and verification.
• Review engineering designs and operating procedures for process safety compliance.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational and engineering personnel.
• Maintain and update process safety management (PSM) systems and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of international process safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Proficiency in conducting various PHA methodologies and SIL assessments.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment techniques and safety barriers.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
