Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations in Glasgow . This crucial role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all engineering and operational activities within the energy sector. You will lead the implementation and management of safety management systems, conduct rigorous risk assessments, and champion a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hazard identification, risk analysis, and the development of robust safety protocols, playing a vital part in protecting personnel, assets, and the environment in the Scotland region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses related to process safety events.
• Develop and review safety integrity levels (SIL) for safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry standards (e.g., COMAH, Seveso).
• Provide process safety training and mentorship to engineering and operations personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the oil, gas, or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience with safety integrity level (SIL) assessment and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Strong understanding of PSM elements and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills, with experience in Glasgow being an asset.
