Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a highly competent Senior Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest safety standards at their facility in Bristol . This role is paramount in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards across all operations. You will be responsible for leading safety studies, developing robust safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This is a critical position for an experienced professional dedicated to fostering a strong safety culture and protecting personnel and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for engineering and operations personnel.
• Review designs for new processes and modifications to ensure inherent safety.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in the chemical or process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, hazard identification techniques, and quantitative risk assessment.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards.
• Proven ability to lead HAZOP studies and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
