About the Role
Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their critical safety team based in Reading . This role is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, playing a vital role in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the development of robust safety management systems. You will lead initiatives to prevent incidents and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, working closely with engineering and operational teams. This is a key position for an individual passionate about safety culture and risk mitigation in the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and best practices to engineering and operational staff.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for safety-critical modifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industries.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety methodologies and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Proven experience in conducting PHAs and risk assessments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of equipment integrity and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
