Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their operations team in Coventry . This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all engineering and operational activities. You will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of process safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The successful candidate will play a key part in fostering a robust safety culture, contributing to a secure working environment and protecting both personnel and assets within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and other risk assessment techniques.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to site personnel and engineers.
• Audit and review engineering designs and operational procedures for safety compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer or in a similar safety-focused engineering role.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety engineering principles.
• Experience with relevant software for risk assessment and incident management.
• Strong understanding of chemical processing or energy sector operations.
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
