About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire , focusing on ensuring the highest standards of safety in Oil & Gas operations. This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems to prevent accidents and minimize risks associated with hazardous operations. You will conduct comprehensive risk assessments, lead safety studies, and provide expert guidance to operational and engineering teams. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a strong safety culture and protect personnel, assets, and the environment in a challenging industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
- Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, developing corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, COMAH).
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety aspects for new projects and modifications.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for safety-critical equipment and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of process safety principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in conducting HAZOP, LOPA, and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety concepts.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
