Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance their safety management systems in Reading . This role is paramount in ensuring operational integrity and minimizing risks associated with chemical processes. You will lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, develop and implement safety procedures, and provide expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. This is a key position for a safety professional dedicated to upholding the highest standards of process safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies.
• Develop and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM ) programs and procedures.
• Oversee the implementation of safety improvements and verify their effectiveness.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and recommend preventative measures.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety regulations and best practices.
• Review engineering designs and modifications for safety compliance and risk reduction.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or oil & gas sector.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP , LOPA, SIL, and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong understanding of UK safety regulations, such as COMAH.
• Proven ability to manage safety projects and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
