Senior Project Manager - Capital Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead significant capital projects within their organisation based in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This is a critical role responsible for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of major investment initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will collaborate with internal departments, external consultants, and contractors to achieve project objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing large-scale capital expenditure projects and a commitment to driving strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects from feasibility studies and business case development through to design, procurement, construction, and handover.
• Develop detailed project plans, establish project governance, and manage project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, including design consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Oversee procurement processes, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
• Provide regular, comprehensive reports on project progress, risks, and financial status to senior management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management , with a substantial focus on large capital projects .
• Proven experience managing projects with significant financial investment, ideally in a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement strategies, and construction management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and financial modelling tools.
• A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management) and professional qualifications (e.g., PMP, MAPM) are essential.
