Senior QA Engineer - Automation Testing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and skilled Senior QA Engineer with a strong focus on Automation Testing to join their quality assurance team in Sheffield . In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites to ensure the highest quality of our software products. You will work closely with development and product teams to integrate testing into the development lifecycle, identify defects early, and champion best practices in quality assurance. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering reliable, high-performing software through rigorous testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web and mobile applications using various testing frameworks and tools.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand project requirements and translate them into comprehensive test strategies and test cases.
• Execute automated tests, analyze test results, and report defects clearly and concisely to the development team.
• Implement and maintain the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline for automated testing.
• Identify opportunities for improving testing processes and tools, advocating for best practices in quality assurance and automation.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to the overall growth and effectiveness of the QA team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a strong emphasis on test automation.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) for test automation.
• Hands-on experience with popular test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Appium, Playwright).
• Solid understanding of API testing and experience with tools like Postman or Insomnia.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
