Senior Quantity Surveyor - Prime Residential

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Prime Residential Central London | Competitive Salary + Benefits

I’m working with a specialist prime residential main contractor to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its established, close-knit team, delivering prestigious refurbishment and construction projects across prime Central London locations.

This is an opportunity to take full commercial ownership of multiple high-value projects, working alongside respected architects, interior designers, and professional consultants, with direct access to senior management and genuine scope for career progression.

The business has an excellent reputation as an employer, with consistently low staff turnover, reflecting a supportive working environment, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to retaining and developing its people.

If you’re commercially driven, confident managing projects autonomously and passionate about delivering quality, this could be an excellent next step.

The Role

You’ll manage the full commercial lifecycle of several concurrent projects, typically valued between £2m and £10m, from procurement through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Taking full commercial responsibility for project budgets, profitability and target margins.

• Managing subcontractor procurement, tendering, negotiations and subcontract agreements.

• Preparing monthly CVRs, financial forecasts and cash flow reports.

• Managing client valuations, variations and commercial negotiations.

• Administering subcontractor accounts, payment applications and final accounts.

• Managing contractual matters, including extensions of time and loss and expense claims.

• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and project teams.

• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project performance.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven main contractor experience within high-end residential construction or refurbishment.

• Experience independently managing multiple concurrent projects, ideally £2m–£10m in value.

• Strong commercial knowledge across procurement, cost control, CVRs, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

• Good understanding of JCT contracts and subcontract administration.

• Excellent negotiation skills and confidence dealing directly with clients and consultants.

• Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and proficiency in Excel.

You’ll be proactive, commercially accountable, and comfortable making decisions, solving problems early and protecting project margins.

The Package:

• Annual leave: 25 days, increasing annually up to 30 days.

• Pension: Workplace stakeholder pension scheme.

• Career progression: Opportunity to take on greater commercial responsibility.

• Projects: Prestigious residential schemes across prime Central London.

• Culture: A close-knit, supportive team with direct access to senior management.

Location: South-West London, with regular site visits across Central London. Employment: Full-time, permanent.
