Senior Research Chemist - Organic Synthesis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Chemist with extensive experience in Organic Synthesis to join their advanced R&D laboratory in Sheffield . This critical role will focus on the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel organic molecules for applications in materials science and pharmaceutical intermediates. You will lead complex synthetic projects, develop innovative synthetic routes, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality compounds. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis routes for complex target molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yields, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using various analytical techniques, including NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions to overcome them.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate synthesized molecules into larger research projects.
• Maintain meticulous laboratory records and prepare detailed reports on synthetic procedures and results.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven expertise in modern synthetic methodologies, reaction mechanisms, and purification techniques.
• Experience with spectroscopic analysis (NMR, MS) and chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
