Senior Research Fellow - Structural Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Research Fellow specializing in Structural Biology to join their world-class research center in Oxford . This critical role will involve determining the three-dimensional structures of key biological targets and drug-target complexes using advanced techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). Your work will be instrumental in guiding rational drug design and understanding molecular mechanisms of disease. Key Responsibilities

• Lead structure determination projects for therapeutic targets and protein complexes using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM.
• Optimize protein expression, purification, and crystallization/vitrification conditions.
• Collect and process diffraction or image data, and solve/refine complex structures.
• Analyze and interpret structural data to guide medicinal chemistry and drug discovery efforts.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and medicinal chemists to integrate structural insights.
• Present findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in determining protein structures using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM.
• Proven expertise in protein expression, purification, and characterization.
• Proficiency in data processing, structure solution, and refinement software packages.
• Experience with protein-ligand complex structure determination is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid laboratory setting.
